Based on what we observed, we believe that upgrading to a 6-star cruise is an excellent choice, especially for first-time visitors to Vietnam. It offers a higher level of comfort, premium facilities, exceptional service, and a more memorable experience while exploring the breathtaking beauty of Ha Long Bay.
Both ships belong to La Casta Cruise Group and sail the same stunning route from Tuan Chau International Marina into Ha Long Bay and the quieter Lan Ha Bay.
But they are not twins.
La Casta Cruise is the established 5-star choice, launched in July 2020, offering 22 luxury cabins with private balconies, a 100-seat restaurant, outdoor Jacuzzi, and classic Halong activities.
La Casta Star is “The Shining Star of Luxury on Lan Ha Bay”, designed for discerning travelers who seek both indulgence and authenticity. While also launched in 2020, it was fully renovated for the 2025 season and is positioned by leading agencies as a 6-star boutique experience.

5 Reasons to Choose La Casta Star 6-Star
1. True Boutique Privacy
With only 52 guests on a 75-meter steel hull, Star feels like a private yacht, not a hotel at sea. You will never queue for the Jacuzzi or fight for a sunset photo spot.
2. Newly Renovated, Not Just New
The 2025 refit upgraded every cabin with sustainable teak furniture from Cat Ba artisans, L’Occitane toiletries, and premium sound systems. The Executive Suite (32m²) with dual-aspect views does not exist on the 5-star sister.
3. Service That Remembers You
The 1:2 staff-to-guest ratio means your coffee preference, pillow type, and anniversary are remembered. In 2024 reviews, 98% of guests specifically praised staff attentiveness, with an average rating of 4.9/5.
4. Dining and Wellness, Not Just Meals
Instead of a large buffet hall, Star offers a 52-seat Pearl Restaurant with panoramic windows, led by a chef formerly of Hanoi’s Press Club. Add Vietnamese tea ceremonies, cooking demonstrations, guided meditation at sunset, and stargazing sessions.
5. Built for Sensitive Travelers and Sustainability
Star features a high-tech stabilization system, advanced navigation, 24/7 medical support, plus eco-credentials: no single-use plastics, onboard water filtration, 80% of food sourced within 100km.
